Export and sharing
Downloaded files and generated reports can be opened, saved and shared in various ways — to your phone, by e-mail or to other apps.
Exporting reports (PDF / Excel)
When exporting a report, you first select the file type at the Choose a file type! prompt:
- Pdf — a formatted, printable document;
- Pdf (chart only) — where a chart is available (e.g. speed);
- Excel — tabular (csv) data that you can process further in Excel.
For Vehicle Usage, the What type of data would you like to export? question offers either the list (PDF/Excel) or the raw GPS positions. The csv cell separator (comma/semicolon) can be set in Settings.
What can you do with the generated file?
- Open — open the file with the appropriate viewer (a PDF or Excel viewer is required);
- Copy to file — save to your phone/tablet;
- Share (eMail, …) — send by e-mail or share with another app (WhatsApp, Drive, etc.).
Sharing downloaded (raw) files
In the Archive, Copy to file and Share (eMail, …) are available for every item in the same way; when sharing, the recipient address can be pre-filled with the e-mail address set in Settings. Multiple files can be exported at once using Save to zip file.
The raw file (.ddd etc.) is not an image, not a Word document, not an Excel file and not a PDF — it is a standard binary tachograph file defined by regulation. To open it, the recipient (or you on a computer) needs a specialised tachograph analysis program; this app itself generates readable reports (PDF/Excel) for you.
Automatic e-mail after downloading
If you enable automatic sending in Settings, the file will be sent automatically to the pre-configured address after every successful download. This is sent via our server (the sender is noreply@driver-card-reader.com), so an internet connection is required and the recipient cannot reply to that address. If automatic sending fails, the app notifies you and you can share the file manually.
