Map

The map shows the GPS positions recorded by the tachograph. The tachograph only stores a position at certain key points along the route — it does not record a detailed track. In the various summaries (Activities, Vehicle use, Countries visited) the map appears when you tap the map icon.

The smallest step that a tachograph can store is 0.1 arc-minutes. This means the coordinate stored in the tachograph (and shown on the map) can differ from the actual position by up to 100 metres.

What do you see on the map?

  • points connected in chronological order draw a route;
  • the points are shown by markers with icons matching their type (shift start/end, border crossing, loading/unloading, 3 hours of driving time);
  • labels above the markers show the time and odometer reading. When many points are visible at once, only the label of the first, the last and the selected point is shown to avoid clutter.

Controls

  • Switch map type between normal and satellite (hybrid) view;
  • Step through points (first / previous / next / last), or fit all points on screen at once;
  • Tap a marker to select it — the information label appears above it;
  • Use the usual gestures to zoom and pan the map.

The map is a live Google Map — an internet connection is required to display the map tiles.

For all GPS-coordinate-bearing points to appear on the map, both the tachograph and the driver (tachograph) card must be G2v2 version. If only the tachograph is G2v2 but the driver card is still G2v1, the border crossings recorded automatically by the tachograph are not saved to the card, because the card does not support that data structure.
