Introduction
This guide explains how to use the app to download, analyse, and export digital tachograph data — from both the driver card and the vehicle.
What can the app do?
Driver Card Reader Pro+ works with multiple sources:
- driver card — downloaded with a USB card reader;
- driver card — downloaded through a Bluetooth-capable tachograph;
- tachograph (recording equipment) — downloaded through a Bluetooth-capable tachograph;
- importing files created with other downloading devices;
- manual data entry — holidays, expenses, refuelling.
The downloaded data can be shared with others as standard DDD (ESM, TGD, C1B/V1B) files:
- Save to file — one by one to your phone/tablet;
- Store to zip file — in bulk to your phone/tablet;
- Send as an email attachment — even automatically after downloading;
- Share with other apps — WhatsApp, Messenger, Viber, Google Drive, ...
To open files shared in the above ways on other devices, you will need specialist software.
From the downloaded data the app generates reports and analyses them according to EU driving and rest time regulations:
- Work time — driving, other work, availability, break, night work, broken down by week/month;
- Rest times — classification of daily and weekly rests (regular/reduced/split), with compensations;
- Rest planning — how much more you can work, when you need to take a rest; with a built-in time machine for trying out future plans;
- Vehicle usage, visited countries and border crossings, kilometres driven;
- Infringements — automatic detection, with severity level and explanation of the applicable regulation;
- Speed and speeding, plus a map with GPS positions (where available).
The completed reports can be exported to various formats and shared with others:
- PDF;
- Excel (csv);
To open the above reports you will need specialist software (Adobe Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Office, ...).
A few important principles
- Your data is yours. Downloaded data is stored exclusively on your own phone/tablet — unless you request that a backup be made to our server.
- Locally, without internet. All algorithms needed to generate the reports run on your own phone/tablet — no internet connection is required.
- Downloading does not modify. Downloading driver card data does not delete or modify the data — only the download timestamp is written back to the driver card (this can even be disabled when downloading with a USB card reader).
- Time zone. The tachograph stores all data in UTC; the app converts to the phone's time zone, but a different time zone can be selected for reports.
If you uninstall the app, the data stored on your phone/tablet will be lost! When reinstalling, the operating system may restore a previous state under certain conditions, but this is not guaranteed and may not be the most recent state. Therefore, always make a backup before reinstalling.
The app's operation is not entirely internet-independent. An internet connection is required for the first sign-in or to verify your subscription. Displaying coordinates on a map also does not work without internet. Additionally, the app can only load larger user guide pages via the internet.
How to use this guide
The table of contents on the left is organised by app function. If you are new to the app, start with the Requirements and First start pages, then move on to reading data. You can navigate through the pages using the Previous/Next buttons at the bottom of each page.
